Confession

Confession: I love rules.
And order.
And knowing what to expect.
And when to expect it.
Chaos is not my friend, although it's growing on me a bit with this house full of kids.
Labor and delivery were difficult for me because I couldn't pencil my kids' arrivals on my calendar and know just when they were going to arrive.

When rules are broken, consequences should be enforced. This is what we are trying to teach our children. It's not always how the world works, though.

I got my first speeding ticket (ever) last weekend and Brinley was with me. I tried to tun it into a teachable moment, but I'm not so sure her three year-old self got it. She was very interested in what was going on and talking a mile a minute.

It really frustrates me when people get out of tickets because of who they know. If someone breaks a rule, they should deal with the consequence.

This is why I'm paying for my ticket. Kind of ridiculous that $61 is fees right off the top- that I could do without! It's an expensive lesson, but I knew the rules and I was breaking them. I will certainly be more aware of my speed now. I'm sure I deserved a ticket on many occasions, anyway. She knocked it down a little bit because I was honest and told her that I just wasn't paying attention.

That's what I hope my kids take from this: follow the rules, play fair, be honest, and accept the consequences for your actions.

New Mom Spa & Blessing

Some sweet friends from our church hosted a New Mom Spa & Blessing afternoon last weekend and it was lovely! Our church welcomed a dozen babies between December and June, after about a year with no babies. We had a very relaxing afternoon of food and fun, including swimming, massages, manicures, pedicure and foot soaks/massages. There was a blessing for each mom and baby, too. Thank you, ladies!

Gatlinburg

We met Mimi and Pop in Gatlinburg, TN for Labor Day weekend and had a great time. The condo was a "short walk" to downtown (read: long walk). We enjoyed swimming in the pool, eating a lots of restaurants, shopping and all kinds of fun stuff.

 Krispy Kreme donuts- yum!

Mimi & Pop took Brayden & Brinley to the aquarium where they saw lots of fish and some penquins.

We took Brinley to the Mirror Maze. You had to put on gloves so the mirrors didn't get all smudged.
It was dark and lit with red lights
You totally couldn't tell where to go without feeling to see if it was a mirror or not.

One of their favorite activities was the gem mining. Here they are cleaning and sorting their new rocks.

Fair Fun

The kids were big enough for ride wristbands this year at the fair and had a great time! The loved the obstacle course and did it over and over and over again.

This helicopter went up pretty high and made me nervous, but they loved it.

The fair wouldn't be complete without funnel cake and fried oreos!

Catching Up on Bristol

Here are her 4 month pics:

 And 5 months:
 Found my feet!

 6 months:

Brayden chillin' at the dentist
 Homework has begun!

 Love, love, love this!

Kindergarten!

Brayden is now in Kindergarten! I'm excited for him to move into this next stage of life, but it seems like just yesterday he was born and I was snuggling him in my arms. Here's my cutie on the first day:
 How fun does this look?!
 New backpack
Required First Day name tag for Kindergarteners (he didn't get lost)
 Walking to the bus stop
No hesitation from this guy. He climbed right on the bus- what a big boy! Only one of us cried that morning...

Softball

Kenny has enjoyed playing church league softball the last few years. Our church, HBC, doesn't have enough for a whole team, so they play with Muhlenberg Lutheran. I think we only made it to one of Kenny's games this year- it seems like they were always playing at 8:00 or 9:00 pm! They don't win a lot of games, but they have a good time and the scenery is beautiful.

Softball is okay....what we REALLY want to do is have picnic, walk the bleachers and play in the dirt!
