We've Been Busy

Summer is our busiest time of year and it always seems like there is not enough time in the day to get everything done! Brayden is a day camper and loves hanging out with the Sunrise boys- especially archery and swimming! Brinley and Bristol spend their days with Nanny Jo and love arts & crafts and the pool. Jo has been working with Brinley on writing her name. I was quite surprised when she sat down to write this, all by herself, without copying anything, the other night. Wow!
Target has wipe off writing boards (with lines like notebook paper) and dry erase markers for $1, so we stocked up and Brinley is loving playing school and copying various words.

Bristol is either extremely happy (cheesy grin) or kinda grumpy. Lots of shrieking going on on our house tonight! We tried the Exersaucer for the first time this week and she looks like such a big girl in it! She doesn't like it for more than a few minutes at a time right now, and doesn't really like the Bumbo or the car seat at all.
The kids love riding with Daddy on the Mule, and take turns helping him "work" each morning before breakfast. Meals are a bit challenging lately as they have so many people they feel the need to talk to that not much eating actually gets done. We're working on this.
Our summer is about halfway done and it's hard to believe that Kindergarten starts in 6 weeks!

Andrea

Today our friend Andrea lost her battle with breast cancer.

She fought for 5 long years and was such an inspiration to SO many people. We first met the Lohrs when we started buying hay from their farm and we started going to their pumpkin patch, Andrea and I had a Bible study group together when Brinley was just born, we joined their Sunday School class when they were the teachers, our kids are close in age and have attended church events together, and they live nearby.

When Bristol was born Andrea signed up to bring us dinner and then called to say she wasn't feeling well that day and would we mind if she had pizza delivered instead. I tried to talk her out of it, but she insisted. That pretty much sums up Andrea's life- caring about other people in the midst of her own struggles. Heaven has just gained a beautiful angel! We are happy that Andrea is now free from the pain that she has been struggling with, but our hearts are breaking for her family during this sad time- especially her husband Matt and their two young children.

Sweet Summertime

We have been having a blast this summer! Here are some of the things we have been up to:
Brinley played the drums at the Talent Show last week.

Brinley & Bristol riding Charlie Brown. Bristol's first time on a horse!
She really gets around in her sweet ride!
Brinley and Charlie Brown "Snowflake's (another horse) boyfriend!"
Lots and lots of Arts & Crafts fun.
Being loved on by the staff and kids
 Lots of swimming

Baby girl is 4 months old!

Thirty-One Goodies

The things I ordered from my Thirty-One catalog party arrived today and they are soooo cute! My favorite is definitely the pink utility tote, and it folds flat. Love, love, love! I am signing on as a consultant in the coming weeks, so please let me know if you want to host a party (catalog, online or in person) so that you can earn free and half-priced goodies! I had an online/catalog party and with minimal effort earned $75 in free products, 3 half-priced items, 2 hostess-exclusive items, 10% off everything else and free shipping. :)

Summer Time Fun

We have been busy so far this summer doing all sorts of fun things!

*Brayden caught a "ginormous" catfish at the lake, using chicken nuggets as bait
*We have made s'mores over the campfire
*Lots of arts & crafts
*Lots of swimming
*Lots of playing outside

Bristol is 4 months old and now weighs 12.5 pounds. She's 50th percentile for height and weight and everything looks great.

Managing 3 kids and achieving a work/life balance in the summer started out much more difficult than I expected, but we are starting to get into the groove now and things are going well.

Pictures will be posted soon!

What a Year!

We have had quite an exciting year! Here are some highlights:

*One year ago today we found out that we were expecting baby #3, sweet Bristol. Happy Father's Day, Kenny!

*Needing more space and wanting a neighborhood, we put our house on the market in October, bracing for a long road to the "Sold" sign. Two weeks later, we had a contract. The next day we visited 4 houses, put an offer on one, and it was accepted two days later. Our realtor thought we were crazy when we told her, back in September, that it would be great to be moved and settled before the baby arrived...

*We  moved to our new place exactly 6 weeks before we brought our baby girl home from the hospital.

*Saw way too much of the hospital with Bristol's birth, Kenny's kidney stone, and Buddy's illness. Everyone is doing well now!

*Survived our first road trip with 3 kids to Mississippi (15-ish hours over 2 days each way).

*Kicking off our 10th summer together at camp (and Kim's 24th!), with Brayden as a part-time official camper for the first time!
