Our Sunday School class is doing a study on the book "One Month to Live" by Kerry and Chris Shook. Here's my take on Day 1.
"Everyone dies but not everyone lives." -Alan Sachs
And some great quotes/points from the book:
- (About the dates on a grave stone) Each person's life really comes down to what transpired between those two dates. It comes down to the dash. We get to decide how we're going to use our dash. Are you living the dash? Or dashing to live?
-Wouldn't it be wonderful to spend your life so that if you discovered you only had a month to live, you wouldn't need to change a thing?
-If you had one month to live, your life would be radically different. Why do we wait until we are diagnosed with cancer or lose a loved one to accept this knowledge and allow it to free us? Don't we want all that life has to offer? Don't we want to fulfill the purpose for which we were created? Wouldn't life be more satisfying if we lived this way?
One of the homework items is to tell someone you're reading this book and to ask them to check in with you in a month to ask how your life has changed. It's almost one month until my birthday, which seems like a very fitting time to celebrate really living my life. So ask me in a month to tell you more about this book!
